What's Coming
The stage is never dark for long. The Mammals continue to evolve — developing new productions, expanding into video art and publishing, and pushing the boundaries of what theatre can be.
Continuing Series
The All Girl Project — the Mammals' ongoing series in which women play roles generally reserved for men — continues to evolve. Having completed four volumes (Moby Dick, Frankenstein, Edgar Allan Poe, and Dracula), the series has established itself as one of the most distinctive and provocative ongoing theatrical projects in Chicago. Future volumes are in development.
Expanding the Form
Since the production of Devils Don't Forget, the Mammals have increasingly incorporated video art, puppetry, and projection into their theatrical work. This expansion continues — with Bob Fisher developing projects that exist at the intersection of theatre, film, and visual art. The company's tagline says it all: Sometimes Theater. Sometimes Video Art. Always Different.
Scripts & Literary Works
The Mammals have expanded into publishing, releasing scripts and literary works from their productions. The first book — the script for Devils Don't Forget — is available now, with each copy containing a coupon for free admission to a future Mammals production. Future publishing projects are in development.
World Premieres
The Mammals continue to develop new original works in the tradition of their world premiere productions — from the southern gothic Don't Give That Beast a Name to the noir triptych. New scripts by Bob Fisher and collaborators are in various stages of development, exploring the company's core themes of American mythology, history, and destiny.
Ensemble Creation
The Mammals regularly hold open workshops to develop new devised works in collaboration with Chicago performers, playwrights, and visual artists. These workshops are the incubator for the company's most ambitious projects — from the All Girl Project to the Fellini-inspired and Pussy Riot-inspired works that have been explored in workshop settings.
