No animal is safe from THE DEVIL VET.

THE DEVIL VET is a bizarre & bloodly tribute to the old Universal horror films like Murder in the Rue Morgue and Island of Lost Souls, taking the expressionistic style of those artistic gems and combining them with our phantasmagorical sense of humor.

THE DEVIL VET was first performed by the Mammals at the Space Theatre in Chicago in October of 2001. Directed by Bob Fisher with the cast as follows

Ron Kroll as The Devil Vet
Bob Karcher as Jojo
Derek Smart as The Widow
Maria Stephens as The Medium
Chris Markham as The Son

The Mammals also presented excerpts of THE DEVIL VET at Mary-Arrchie’s 13th Annual ABBIE HOFFMAN DIED FOR OUR SINS FESTIVAL.

Denied licensure to practice veterinary medicine in the US due to scandal involving surgical atrocities he committed upon domesticated animals back in Transylvania, the Devil Vet is forced to make his living by emceeing for a traveling freak show.

After seeing his talking ape act, a wealthy elderly widow is so moved by the Devil Vet’s “kinship” to animals that she offers to bequeath her entire estate to him if he can teach her dying poodle how to speak before she dies of old age.

By attempting to surgically implant a voice box into the widow’s dog and teaching it how to speak, The Devil Vet unleashes monstrosities such as the world has never known!
